A unique example of the famed "James Bond" Submariner, the 6538 "Big Crown".
The 4-line variation is approximately 10 times rarer than the non-chronometer certified 2-liner, due to its significantly higher retail price at the time.
At the time, this was a souped-up version of a specialised diving instrument that was only necessary for those divers who needed the excess accuracy granted by the chronometer-certified movement.
This example comes from a salvage diver. It was heavily used and then left in a drawer on his retirement. Original radium lume intact, heavily tropical brown dial.
